Should I fix her
Should I fix her
Ok guys, let me start off and say I love my 2011 loaded maxima with some upgrades and with 30k on it. no plans on getting rid of it.
Some lady hit her in the rear quarter panel while backing out as seen not too bad but 1400 in damage. Her insurance company is sending me a check for the damage based on two estimates from body shops for that amount. Times are a bit tight and the truck issue is still up on the air. The questions are.
Should I fix her for the full amount of 1400?
Should I try to compound it out and with what?
Would I get in trouble taking the check and not fixing?
Should I take it to the lower quote guy for 300.00
My wife said fix it or I will be dwelling on it. But, I can really use 1400.00 and I didn't try to "buff" or use touch up on it yet.
Don't know how to add pictures. The scratches do go down to metal

You won't get into any trouble spending the check on something else. But with the scratches going down to metal, if I'm not mistaken that area has no protection from the elements so there is a strong possibility that eventually it will rust. If the lesser estimate is doing the same work take it there, and if you're not comfortable going there ask to see previous work performed.

IF you like your car that much and not going to get rid of it soon. If it was mine it would have already been in the shop, or buffed out if that is what it would take. These Maxima's are to nice of a car to let them go and be neglected. Get it fixed.
of course you should. Hate saying this cuz I'm married too but your wife is right
I has someone scrape my rear driver's corner, paint transfer ans whatever but everytime I saw my car I saw the scratches. Get it fixed.

Nothing wrong with spending less, as long as it's a quality repair.
Someone backed into my 5th gen a little while back. I ended up spending considerably less by going to a smaller shop. The dealer wanted to replace things like the HID's because one tab had a small crack, no broken pieces. The shop fixed some things instead of replacing them. The car looked great after the repairs & had no issues.
