Wheels lock key
Tonight I decided to locate my wheel lock key and to my surprise it's no where in the trunk.
It's obviously late at night and the dealer is closed, so I can't call, but I was wondering if by chance the key is lost could the dealer get me another key by running the vin number?

anybody work on the vehicle recently? they should have put the wheel lock key where they found it, but check your glove box, center console, etc.
if you cant find it, otherwise i think they will have to use a locking lug nut remover to get the lugs off and that ruins the lug so you would need a new set of 4 locking lugs. as far as i know locking lugnuts are still computer coded and i doubt theres a way they can make up a new key

If its the Nissan wheel locks the dealer has all the master keys so there won't be any damage when removing the locks. New wheel lock keys can be made too.
The dealer should have given you the master key as well as the extra wheel lug nuts that the wheel locks replaced. Good luck

interesting, didnt think there was a way they could get them off without ruining the lug. in that case just go back to Nissan and i imagine they will make up a new key for you. especially since you just bought it and its their fault you dont have one
when i lost the key that came with my car (was never given a sticker or info to order more) i went to 2 different dealerships and they tried all their keys and none fit. i eventually had to just get a 19mm socket (the kind that are more rounded with lots of ridges) and hammer them onto the locking lugnuts and then take those off - destroying both the lugnut and the socket. ordered a new set and put that little sticker with the info to order more of the same kind in my damn safe.
The dealer used a master key to remove the wheel locks.. Of course they offer to sell me a new set for 50 which I declined and found a used set of OEM Nissan locks on eBay for 10 bucks shipped.
Just got them in the mail today and it came along with a key-code and to my surprise OEM locks are made by McGard.

[QUOTE=shook187 . . . OEM locks . . .[/QUOTE]
I'm not sure these are truly 'OEM' locks. One of the first things my dealer does after unloading the cars off the car haulers is to install wheel locks. At least that was what he did from around 1995 until around 2011. I haven't watched him unloading vehicles in almost two years.
When I pick up each of my new Maximas, a packet of info on the locking lug nuts is included, with forms for ordering a spare lock socket for my particular locking lugs.
The best way to determine where the locking lug nuts originate is to check the window sticker. If the locking nuts are listed on the Nissan factory window sticker, they were put on at the factory. If they are listed on the dealer's 'add-on' sticker, then they were installed by the dealer.
One possibility I haven't covered is that the locking lug nuts may be included in that large clear plastic bag that Nissan throws into each car that contains things such as cargo nets, front license plate brackets, etc, etc. If so, then they are truly 'OEM', even though the dealer mounts them and charges for the mounting.
I remember leaving my wheel lock socket at home back in 2007 when getting new tires installed on my '04 Maxima at Direct Tire in another County. There was a Nissan dealer near the Direct Tire shop, and they immediately got the four locking lugs off with one of their master sockets and put four regular lugs on at no charge.

@chrome, would this apply to Infiniti wheels as well since the Nissan name is embossed on the inside of those wheels? I'm planning on getting Infiniti OEM wheels and wanted to be sure of that.
