Hi guys,

I have a 2012 Maxima with 20k miles on it and lately I've been having a weird ignition problem. When I press the button, the engine starts but then it just sputters. No lights on the dashboard gets lit either. I have to give it some gas so that it can finally finish igniting. It first happened a week ago in -15 celsius temperature so I thought that the weather was too cold but today it was around zero and it did that as well. My friend tells me it could be that my gas line is clogged up by condensation. Should I be worried about this problem? I don't really feel like going to the dealer because t will probably be hard to diagnose if it doesn't happen when they ignite it.

Take it to the dealer it's there fault and is covered at no cost to you . And get a rental from them it's a engine running problem

 

Check your air filter, that's about the only DIY 'check' I could think of. My old 6th Gen used to have trouble cranking on cold starts.

If the problem becomes a consistent thing then I'd bring it to the dealer.

 

You may have water / condensation in the fuel causing these problems. Try adding fuel additives to alleviate the problem.


PS if the engine starts it is not the battery.

 

I would have it to the dealer asap.. that's what the warranty is for. why touch it if you don't have to.
