Footwell Lights Help Please!!

Hey guys, I tried to do a search, but couldn't find the info I needed. So anyone's expertise is appreciated...

I performed my first mod this afternoon, replaced almost all of the interior lights with LED's. I got a kit from Amazon, and I really like how upscale it looks when I have them on. But I ran into a problem.

I went to replace the footwell lights and accidentally pushed the bulb/housing into the hole it's mounted in. I read somewhere that you can twist the bulb out, which is what I did, but I lost grip and pushed it through. It's basically sitting inside of the panel that beneath the steering column, the same panel that the fuse box cover thing is in. I can see the bulb when I remove the fuse cover, but is there a way to remove the panel underneath the steering column in order to facilitate a retrieval and replacement? I'm not very mechanically inclined but I can follow directions pretty well.

Thanks in advance fellas!

If you open the door, pop off the panel on the side of the dash. From there, you can pull down the lower panel underneath the steering wheel (carefully!).

Here's a visual:

Good luck!

Wow, thanks a lot for the response and corresponding visual!! I'll do this tomorrow afternoon. Should make changing the lights a snap! Do you know if the passenger footwell panels come off the same way? Also, WHERE THE HECK DID YOU GET THAT START BUTTON FROM???? I may need to copy that one sir....

Heh, np. You can get the GT-R start button off Amazon. Just give it a little search. Pop out the old button. Pop the new one in. I did the same (thought, that other thread I linked isn't mine).

I've never done the passenger footwell but that is just directly under the glove box. You can just reach under and you'll feel where the bulb socket connects to the dash panel. If you want to change the glove box light, you just need to take the glove box out after taking off a few screws. I'll probably do that tomorrow now that it's been mentioned...

Sweet....I actually searched www.CourtesyParts.com and found one for about $33. I'll probably order it this weekend and change it out along with the footwell lights once I get it.

It'd would be cool if a company came up with different color schemes for the Start Button...just something different, like an eyeball or smiley face or something.

Nice! Glad you found it!

I wanted a custom button as well, saying "Do not push," "Ignition," "Go! Go! Go!" or whatever else was interesting and out of the norm. You could probably mold one out of epoxy/resin. I might give it a shot if I have time using the stock button... if I can remember where I put it, now that I think of it...

Way above my skill level....I don't even know where to start with that. You figure it out, I'll pay you lol...

Seriously, it might be something to look into. It'd be cool to have your own custom button
