Intake help???

Hey guys looking into possibly getting an intake for the car most likely the K&N 69 Series Typhoon Intake. Anyone have any reviews on this one? recommendations? and does it void the warranty? Thanks in advance for you help/input!

I just bought the Takeda SRI and I will be putting it on tonight. AutoAnything has it for $170. As far as the warranty goes, the law says they have to PROVE the part in question caused whatever issue is before it can be voided. Having said that there is nothing preventing you from putting the car back to factory before taking it in for any issue.

As soon as I read the price I went searching for it. I've been wanting a CAI but don't wanna pay $300+. However I couldn't find the Takeda until I unchecked the "custom fit" box for my 2014 Max. Sooo let me know how it is to install please. As I'm wondering if there are any fitment issues?

Thanks!

Mine says custom fit for 2012. Has something changed in the 14's? Or maybe they have not installed one in the 13-14 so they don't guarantee a custom fit?

I will let you know how it goes.

has anyone dyno-ed 7th gen with stock and aftermarket intake? I have a feeling the aftermarket will actually cause the car to lose low end torque.
I messed up a lot with several intakes/exhaust in my gen 4 max and I can tell the sound difference between sound exhaust and loud intake. The stock intake on the 7th gen sound pretty high flow to me. It is the exhaust that is completely inaudible from inside the car. I presonally love the sound of the stock car. You have some growl, but still sophisticated when u driving girls to the club.

^^^ MY MAN! I like how he's thinking! A beast for the street and gentlemen for the ladies lol.

However, if it's one thing I've noticed about girls and cars is that girls seem more attracted to the leather, panoramic roof, dvd+nav, basically the interior in general. Girls are almost the opposite of shallow when it comes to cars. Well... I'm speaking for girls around the Pittsburgh area lol.

I would guess it's a push as far as power. It's going to suck in more air but the air is going to be a bit warmer. Of course the companies that make the intakes claim dyno gains, but I would take that with a grain of salt. I love the extra noise when you step on the gas, not expecting gains.

Edit: I had a '99 Cougar V6 that I put a SRI on, and there was a verified 8.5 whp gain on the dyno. However on that car the stock box was very restrictive, not sure about the stock box on the Maxima's. Of course the 8.5 whp gain was nothing compared to the Paxton super charger I replaced the SRI with eventually lol.

short rams pull too much heat in, all the testing with them has shown that the stock air box is better for the car for temps and power. if you want it to sound cool though, then definitely get an intake. they did testing with the 6th gen max too, stock airbox beat out ram air intake there too.

*@*$&+%)*&!!! Stupid thing ate my post!! Well I am too tired to type all that stuff up again, sigh. Bottom line I got the Takeda in, perfect fit and if you follow instructions there is not any need of any modifications. Sounds very mean, especially WOT but not overbearing at all.

I have a Gtech gadget I use to get 0-60 times, and I know that is not a great gauge for this car but I don't have a legal spot to test 40-90 lol. Over the last week I did about 25 0-60 runs and the best I got before the SRI was 6.37. After installing the SRI I did 5 runs and the 3 best were 6.32, 6.30 & 6.25. Keep in mind I am use to launching with a stick, and the CVT has been a learning curve. I would be very shocked though if there was any power loss and even feel like there was a very small gain. I have only had the car under two weeks but other cars I have driven I could tell right away even with a very small power loss after tuning change.

I am happy with it, even if it is not much more then eye candy and a noise maker.
