T Rex Grille Install?

I am really wanting to get rid of the stock grille because I don't like the huge Nissan emblem on the front. I've been looking at getting the T Rex grile, since it seems to be the only decent one avaiable. I wish there was a good looking mesh grille, billet is so played out and every Altima around here has a billet grille Anyone know of any know of mesh ones for the 7th gens?

I searched the forum and could not find any write ups on how to install it, or and installation instructions. Can anyone tell me how this grille is installed? Is the stock grille shell still used? I am just wondering how hard it is to install and if any cutting is required.

Does anyone here have the black billet grille? How durable is the finish on it? Does it chip up easily?

I have the black billet grill replacement for upper and lower and overlays for sides.
After a year I have no chips in finish it's powder coated so it's tougher than paint in my opinion. I happen to like it very much and get lots of compliments on them.
Bought on ebay from some company in Florida.
I think the mesh is less appealing.

It is very easy to install, and takes about 15 minutes.
1. Remove covers on top.
2. Remove stock grill. Bottom tabs are a little rough.
3. Put in trex grill.
4. Push in pins that hold new grill in place.

The trex is one of the nicest aftermarket grills I have ever handled.

Aps grilles and e & g grilles make mesh. I agree with OP on billet. Here's what I did to them, medi blasted chrome off, paint matched and mounted.
Haven't seen another like it!

Without the chrome shell of the stock grill, does the front fascia flex more or seem looser when using the t rex grille? I would assume that the chrome part surrounding the stock grille would provide additional support for the front fascia.

The black billet T Rex isn't on ebay. It seems to be a whole lot harder to find compared to the standard silver billet grille. Do you all know who usually has the best prices on them?

I like how you made it different. I would have to get rid of the chrome too and powdercoat it black. I like the mesh but the thicker part surrounding the mesh is a little too large for for my tastes. Is drilling required on the upper and lowers for your mesh grille?

I got the same one as bigirish. what I did before installing the grills was I plasti dip the outer chrome shell part gloss black. however, during install, I scratched the lower grill so I peeled off all the plastidip. I will re-plasti dip it once I have time and I might try the 3m paint defender spray on top of the plasti dip since I have some 3m spray left over from before. no drilling is required for in the install...

As dragon said they install in place of stock upper grille. The lowers and brake duct covers attach with j bolts behind the front clip. If I had the time I would lightly spray radiator with radiator paint. Cut out the lower plastic pieces so you just see the grilles. But a wife and 2 small kids prevent those wishes!

^^^^ really nicely done. Is this the car that hot parted out on classifieds? Such a shame if it is but yeah I would be very happy with this grille too. Probably $ hundreds cheaper than my route too!

I like this grille, but I don't like the idea of having to drill for the bottom grille. I'm not doing that on a new car.

Does anyone know how the lower T Rex billet grill is mounted? Is drilling required for it?

Anyone know if black billet is still available? It's not shown on the T Rex website, and I can't find a part # for it online.

I don't believe drilling is required for the lower trex grill, but I can't confirm, as I haven't installed one.

Billet style.
There's a different brand on ebay that I bought for $276 for all 4 pieces. Replacement not overlay. GenX I believe from Florida. Quality is awesome fit is perfect and super easy to install. Just try not to break the tabs when removing the hideous stock grills in case u want to reinstall for resale or whatever.
Also there was zero drilling required.

2010 bigdog, share the pics in this thread if you can. I'm interested to see what black billet will look like. I'm trying to decide between the standard silver billet or black billet for my Pearl White Max.

Definitely the best custom grille I've seen on a 7th gen by a long shot

Does anyone here have a pearl white 7th gen with a standard polished billet grille?

I am curious to see how it would look, since I think that the black billet would be too much contrast.
