Just bought a 2012 Maxima
So I just bought a 2012 Nissan Maxima SV it has 40K miles
I would like to know what things I should do to it to re-condition the car. I have read about you people going a long time with Brakes, but I can tell something is grinding already. Based on what I read here, its probably the rear brakes.
I changed the air filter
will change the cabin filter
oil/change
Should I get the brake fluid changed?
What else?
Should I put some seafoam in the gas tank?
I buffed and polished/waxed the car and its like brand new.
I did notice the slight rock in the seat, I'm wondering if the Nissan extended warranty "gold" will cover it.

Well something is grinding in the brakes. The previous owner must of been very hard on them. I honestly don't think he took the greatest care of it. I think the air filter was original. It was so dirty. I would bet he used 87 in the gas tank. I'll have to start using premiuim.
I also read the rears wear before the front's. That's how my Murano was.
I guess I will need to take the wheel off and look.

Did you say the seat was rocking? Which seat is rocking? If it is the driver seat, then that should be covered under warranty as it is a common issue with the driver seat coming loose off of its track. I haven't had it happen to me, 2014 with 5k miles, but other members have reported it.
Yes its the drivers seat. well hopefully the "gold" extended warranty will cover the seat.
I looked at the brakes. the front are fine, but the rear is definitely worn,
I replaced the cabin filter and what a pain..

I ran my 1999 Infiniti I30 on 87 octane for 200K miles and it was still going fine when I sold it.

Take it to the dealer and get the seat fixed. I had the infamous rocking seat in my 2010 Murano and my 2010 Maxima, both were fixed under warranty. They had to do the Maxima twice because the "fix" caused the seat to hop forward instead of glide.
Well I did the rear brakes... Pretty easy. The bottom bolt to the caliper was difficult to get due to the trailing arm being in the way. I was able to get it out by removing the bottom bolt that holds the caliper on, then loosening the top bolt and swing the caliper up. Then I was able to get my socket on the bolt. I didn't have a closed end wrench. Which should of worked as well.
Still can't believe how easy it is to do brakes..
Does anyone know if there was a TSB for the maxima's front seat that rocks? I mentioned it to the service advisor on saturday and he tells me he never heard of that. Only on the Murano's..

I think these cars have some sort of braking system that applies the brakes evenly and that actually causes the rear brakes to wear first.
I only had my car until about 7k miles but I looked at the courtesy check said front brake 9mm, rear 7mm

I'm not sure if there is a TSB for the Maxima seat problem but I bought my Maxima used and bought an extended warranty and when my seat started to rock I got it fixed using it. Btw, my car only had 33k miles when the seat gave me trouble.
I'm not sure there is a TSB for your problem

When you've cycled to this view, hold the secondary button (the one just down and to the right of the cycle button) down for about 3 seconds. It should reset those numbers to zero, and it'll also reset the average MPG "meter" to zero as well.
Thanks that worked
I noticed today my ipod was crackling and skipping.. I think it may have been the cheap cable. Never heard anything like it before.. I tried and apple cable and so far so good. but haven't tested it much.
Can the songs on the ipod be downloaded to the musicbox?
