Power Steering Fluid Change

The manual does not state exactly at what interval our ps fluid needs replacement. It just says to inspect. Based on my prior vehicles, I feel that 75k would be a fair amount of miles to replace my ps fluid. I am having no issues with my power steering nor does the fluid have a strong smell to it. Does 75k sound like a good interval to replace the fluid?

Probably not necessary, but if it gives you peace of mind - go for it!

I agree totally. I change the fluids in my old school car because it gives me peace of mind and I'll change my CVT fluid every 50k miles for the same reason.

Yup - I changed mine out at around 35K and just a couple weeks ago at 135K miles. I used Valvoline synthetic ATF (Dexron VI) both times.

If you plan to do this yourself, fair warning, it's a real B. You might get something to siphon the fluid out of the reservoir without taking it loose. I loosened the reservoir from the strut tower (wicked frustrating because the bolts are...well you'll find out), tipped the reservoir down and unhooked the hose at the front. Without car running, if you just turn steering wheel back and forth several times lock to lock, it will get majority of fluid out. Also, do yourself a favor and remove the radiator reservoir - only 1 bolt and it gives a lot of extra room to work there.

Late,
Trav

ATF vs PSF

Are the branded power steering fluids (RP, etc) basically the same as ATF when its Dex VI? I got nervous when I realized that I had been flushing with Oreilly Dex VI ATF but as far as I've read, it is the same chemical make up. Any thoughts?
