New Maxima Owner Loud Engine
New Maxima Owner Loud Engine
Good Evening Everyone! So I have a 2012 Maxima switched from and Altima in October 2014. I'm aware that both cars are loud. On 3 different occasions I've noticed that the engine sound louder than usual upon start up. Today I drove home from work, parked the car. 30 Minutes later got back in the car and when it came on it was very loud. After driving for 3 minutes it calmed down to it's normal sound. I understand it may be loud upon initial start up when cold but its happening after driving the car for awhile. Any ideas?????
Im willimg to bet most of it is due to weather, do you let your car warm up for a few minutes before take off? Also your more then likely hearing the sound generator, some genius at nissan thought it was a good idea to add some piping from the intake to the cabin. A lot of people including my self have taken this out and capped it off, it quiets the csbin down substantially

When I installed a R2C intake I was like WTF is this thing? and chucked it in the OEM parts box.

Here's a pic:

Search sound generator in the search box and you'll find a whole bunch of info on it, and how to cap it ect. But to explain if you remove the intake box there's tube that goes from the rubber piping to the back of the firewall. Remove it and cap with pvc cap I think it's 1.5" and use the existing clamp to tighten the pvc
