Help regarding steering lock failure

Hi,

My steering lock failed on my 10 SV , so I tried the tapping technique and the vehicle started. After that, I've removed the fuse while the car is running. so my question is , would this be a permanent solution or I need to replace the steering lock assembly? by the way there's no KEY indication after removing the fuse.

Note: I'm not from the US.

Removing the fuse under the hood for the steering lock will disable the system. Of course this must be done when ignition is on, steering unlocked, just like you did.

After this the steering lock will no longer function, but it won't hang up and disable the car either.

No need to replace the lock mechanism. You should be ok.

If you do decide you still want this feature fixed, Nissan extended the warranty to 6 yrs, unlimited miles.

Thank you for your response. The vehicle is running for the past 5 days with no problem.
