Morimoto LED Fog Lights

Has anyone swapped their OEM foglights for the Morimoto LED N version? I was looking at some older threads, and it seems like the color matches the HID lighting perfectly but I am more concerned with the light output. How is the durability of these fog lights, and how does the light output compare to the original halogen powered fogs?

Well since you are more concerned about light output of your fogs, stick with the halogen bulbs. They produce a far better light down the road and if you live in areas that have fog like I do you will more satisfied with halogens. If you have a great need to have your fogs and HID headlights the same color temperature then LED is the way to go, but then you sacrifice performance.

These actually perform much better than halogens. These are full replacement housings not drop in bulbs.

OP, do you have a link? I also have a 2014 Maxima and just got stock fogs installed at the dealer.

I assume the LED's will be in the 5000K color range - will this actually be effective as a fog light though? I think you need yellow to actually pierce fog...

Edit: found them - https://www.theretrofitsource.com/co...1#.VvsR__o8KrV

looks like you can add the yellow laminx film for $15, and it'll give it the yellow look.

I have Morimoto 6000K HID low beams and Morimoto LED type N fogs.
I like the fogs (much nicer than stock) but they are not as white as the Morimoto HID's.

Of course, look at the color temps haha. I'd be concerned if they matched. Although the ones on the site appear to be 5500K.

Out of curiosity, did you add the yellow LamineX onto your fogs? The protective aspect is nice but I've also heard white for the fog lights defeats the purpose of fogs.

I currently have LED replacements in my factory fogs, and the light output sucks. The color matches the stock HIDs though. If the Monimotos will match the stock lights, and provide a lot more light output over the stock foglights with halogen bulbs then I will give these a shot.

Does anyone know if installing these LED fogs will require an extra resistor or any of that stuff to prevent flickering?

No, the only time you need a resistor is with the turn signals.

No special modification required for these fogs. First thing I did when I got the car was to replace the old fogs with these and the install is a breeze.

Here is a pic in the daytime, hard to tell, but from my own experience they are brighter than the OEM halogens.

Looks good. How does the color of the fogs compare to the OEM HIDs, do they match?

I assume this is the regular 5500K color and without the yellow LaminX covering?

Reviving an old thread. Anyone have a pic of the Morimoto fog lights with yellow protective film (with the factory HID headlights)?

If you could still post a night time pic that would be cool! I just got a 2013 and one of the fogs is completely smashed, so I'm trying to weigh my options/get informed on options. Thanks!
