Extended Warranty info
Hey guys I am rapidly approaching the end of my lease and I plan on buying out my Max but with that being said I am terrified of possible CVT issues in the future. Before I head to Nissan to talk about extended warranties I was wondering if anyone has experience/tips in this process as well as what a good price for one would be. Thanks in advance for your help!
Depending on current mileage, and the coverage, a good platinum plan, covers everything (besides cosmetics and expendable parts) with zero deductible extended to 100k miles could be around $1500 to $2000 at most. But being that you are negotiating a buyout, I'd shoot for as low as they will go. $1000. Because you're likely stuck paying the residual value anyway (unless they are willing to negotiate that to sweeten the deal for you), so the only thing you have to negotiate is extended warrantee and BS dealer fees. Bottom line, if they don't help you with it you don't buy it out...they know that drill.
Advice from someone who sells these plans. Get OEM Nissan or a reputable third party offered by a franchised dealer not any of the cheap plans advertised online or tv. If you have an issue you will quickly find yourself with a worthless piece of paper. I recommend Nissan or Fidelity Warranty Services (JMA Group) they are top notch. Get Platinum from Fidelity or whatever Nissan calls their top level of coverage. Lots of computerized parts and sensors on these cars and that's what most issues stem from.
I had terrible luck with the Nissan extended warranty, my airbag computer went and even through it said comprehensive, the airbag comp was not included under the comprehensive warranty. Make sure you check what is actually covered and if there is a deductible for repairs prior to buying. I know why they don't call them bumper to bumper warranties anymore.
