Engine RPM at highway speeds

2011 model here, just looking for some feedback on normal engine RPM. Once warmed up, mine runs about 2200 rpm at 71~72 mph and 2350 at 73 mph. In comparison, our 2009 Murano likes to stay below 2000 rpm most of the time on the highway. The Murano weighs almost 1500 lbs more than the Maxima as well. I would honestly like the Maxima RPM a little lower to maybe improve fuel economy some.

Different gear ratios. Lower gear ratios for maximas to feel sportier. Higher for Muranos for MPG.
2018 Maximas have a higher gear and get 28mpg I think?
Edit
7th gens have a 6 ratio CVT
8th gens have 7 ratio CVT

What MPG are you getting now? I drive mostly highway miles, but I drive them hard...as in heavy acceleration and fairly high speeds (75 - 85 mph), and get about 22.5 MPG like clockwork. Which I find phenomenal for a 290 hp V6.

Average is around 24 mpg. I was wondering if maybe something was creating some drag leading to higher rpm's for the same speeds, but it sounds like mine runs about like all the others. I think the additional ratio would be nice to have.

I can somewhat answer your question about rpm's vs speed. I don't have any highways around here that have a 70 speed limit but when I am traveling at 60 my rpm's are 1850. Let is know what your rpm's are at that speed.
