Smile Top speed and warranty question?

Hello. I got 2 questions for you Maxima car professors haha.

Im getting a bully dog gt gas performance tuner for my '14 maxima (all I can afford for now, uprev is too expensive for my budget). I've been watching videos about this tuner and you can set the top speed max to 200mph. obviously the maxima cant do 200 and I believe it is governed to 131. anyone out there who removed the speed limiter? how fast did the 7th gen go lol. one website (automobile-catalog.com) says it can do 147mph without the governor. i know its a cvt and not expected to go that fast but I just want to see what everyone else got up to.

second question is I did a muffler and res delete with a short ram intake. do you professors think I voided my warranty? my Max is at 57,000 miles and I believe theres a 60,000mile warranty. my Max is due for a cvt fluid change (first one ever in its life time).

Si Maxima, I've only added a cold air to my 2010 car, I currently have 142k miles on it. I lived in the desert in Barstow, CA for roughly 2yrs and I got my car up to 136mph on a long straightaway. I don't dog it like that anymore because my wife drives it now until we get her a new vehicle.

If you take your car to a dealer for warranty work, minus the parts you removed they would have an issue and more than likely say the warranty is voided.

As for your cvt fluid I'd say you were 7k miles past due on your fluid change. Check your fluid, it starts out bright green, changes to a honey color but is still good, then turns to brown or darker when it's no longer doing it's best work. I change mine every 50k miles.

Why is top speed important and provided that it truly is, where is that the average Joe will go where 147 mph is necessary or appropriate? Back roads, neighborhood streets, interstate?

How do I check the cvt fluid? I know I gotta go to dealer to check it but is there anyway to not go to the dealer?

You pull the dipstick and look at the fluid...pretty simple.

Actually, from an engineering perspective, the CVT is the PERFECT transmission as it keeps the car in its max power band. So...no need to bash and/or apologize for the car having a CVT transmission. Its only compromise is that you can't or shouldn't put mad levels of hp in front of it.

Definitely do the cvt fluid. We just had a cvt go on a 2012 Altima. Although the car has 168k miles so there's only one place to put the blame: on us. For not changing the fluid.

In MA I believe you can only mod behind the catalytic converter. I've been told that if I got a Bully dog I'd have to set it back to stock and take the BD out, then drive around long enough for the computer to get proper reads at stock. Which you could probably do easy enough that max speed wouldn't be a problem. If anything I'd be more worried about keeping the engine running hard to reach max speed. That's just me.

The fastest I've gone on my Max is 148 mph on the I-20 in Mississippi. Pretty sure it can go faster.
