You'll love the max with that JPP y-pipe. I know I did. Best power for the bucks mod on these cars. So easy to take off and consistently get power all the way up the revs. Kinda wonky CVT in the way, or else, this would be a good beast under a sleeper looking car.

 

it really does. I mean it not like throwing a supercharger or cams on it,not a massive power gain but I definitely did notice a difference. Feel like it has a lot more low end torque now. Nice throaty sound but not obnoxious

 

Been busy with work haven’t done anything to the car in a while. Haven’t even washed it. Here in NY we have literally had rain almost every other day for the last month. Anywho,with that being said finally got around to getting some braided brake lines. Ordered from Nisformance. Unbelievably fast shipping. I ordered them Wednesday morning around 1am. They were shipped that morning at 845am. Just arrived here at home on Friday,215. Dang

These came in today. Purchased from R1 concepts. Very positive reviews on these. Plus can’t beat the fact that I had a coupon and paid $28 shipped.

Probably won’t be putting the new calipers,lines,rotors etc for another couple weeks. Car needs an alignment,balance,,oil change,few other basic maintenance things that must come first. Plus still need to clear coat the calipers and then bake them

Also need to figure what size spacers I need to get for the front

 

Idk, perhaps overkill but since I’m doing my caliper install soon I have to get new brake fluid. I want to take it from dot3 to dot4.

So so my question is,do you guys think it would be overkill to get oem Nissan GT-R brake fluid to put in. I know it’s a maxima,nowhere near a gtr but I look at it like this,if it works for the gtr,can’t be that bad for the max

 

Man I wish I can answer that for you, I'm not sure if it will harm the master cylinder by putting in DOT 4 I'm not sure what the difference is between the 2 formulas. My opinion I would stay with the fluid Nissan is specifying for that vehicle just so nothing happens with your brake system and cost you more money having to replace the master cylinder etc. I would start by calling the dealer and see if the fluid is interchangeable.

 

You don't need DOT4. It is not an upgrade. DOT4 is made for a different application. Your brake system will never get that hot. Stick with the FSM. Good for the GT-R does not equate in any way to any other car. Formula 1 carbon brakes are way cooler and more expensive than Maxima brakes, but they would never work on a Maxima.

 

Oh ok. The only reason I wasnted dot 4 is because I’ve had a couple cars that during hot summer days and some spirited driving,had major brake fade. One time the pedal went all the way to the floor. It hasn’t happened to this max yet but I just wanted the higher boiling point of dot4. But if you guys are saying completely unnecessary then that’s good to know.

Finally got the akebono on!
My car sits weird when it’s in my driveway. When it’s not in my drive it sit lower and doesn’t have that much gap at the front tire.

Wheels have to get redone and and new paint. Just gonna wait til the winter when I put the stock wheels back on to get them refinished.

Next is an oil change and cvt fluid change and maintenance things. After that more then likely gonna be some sort of front lip or splitter.

Nice work. Any notable change in braking characteristics?

 

For starters,I never liked the way this car stopped. My 6gen stopped way better. When I bought the car,I had to wait an extra day because the dealer did all the brakes. So even with new brakes,it was alway weak. Coming off the highway,I would have to really get on the brakes to stop.

With the akebonos,it’s ALOT better. Although I haven’t really gotten on them yet. Only 20 miles since I put them on so still kinda taking it easy until I get a few more miles then I’ll do the break in. But with that being said,the pedal is a lot smoother. Pressure is even when braking,don’t have to push too hard to come to a stop. I attempted 1 heavy braking and all I can say is damn.

End result so far...love it. Love how the pedal feels,love how the braking is,and of course,love the look

 

They look great. The FSM has a pad burnishing procedure if you're interested. I just upgraded my 5th gen 2 days ago from stock single piston and 11" rotors to 2009 350Z dual piston and 13" rotors and I'm enjoying those as well.

How did you bleed everything? I use the Motive pressure bleeder. I can do a complete 4 corner fluid flush by myself in about 20 min if all I do is jack the car up and not remove the wheels. Love that thing.

 

Sweet. You must the way the rotors and calipers fill the inside of the wheel. Love that look.
Ill be honest,I’m tired of working on cars. Love cars but If it’s not something super simple I pay my mechanic to do it. I guess I’m just over doing big jobs on my cars. So he did the brakes for me. But he did the old bleed process.

 

What’s the burnishing procedure? Heavy braking on the highway I get a nasty vibration. Need to get whatever deposits are on the rotors off

Burnish the brake contact surfaces according to the following pro-
cedure after refinishing or replacing drums or rotors, after replac-
ing pads or linings, or if a soft pedal occurs at very low mileage.
CAUTION:
Only perform this procedure under safe road and traffic con-
ditions. Use extreme caution.
1. Drive the vehicle on a straight smooth road at 50 km/h (31
MPH).
2. Use medium brake pedal/foot effort to bring the vehicle to a
complete stop from 50 km/h (31 MPH). Adjust brake pedal/foot

Well thanks good sir. I actually was gonna take them off at the end of the month and have them redone but had a setback with the front brakes. So using that money to fix the brake issue
