My new 2012 "orphan" 7th gen Maxima.

Hey, Im from New Zealand, and have recently purchased my 7th Maxima, replacing my previous 5th gen. Its a 2012 Maxima 350L which is a bit of an orphan in the 7th gen Maxima world, as it it based on the J32 series Nissan Teana. Our previous 6th gen Maxima was based on the J31 series Teana, and both our 4th and 5th gen Maxima were based on the A32 and A33 Nissan Cefiro, which had more in common with the US Infiniti I30.

We had two V6 engine options, 3.5 (350L) or 2.5 (250L), and technically only 1 trim level, but the 3.5 did have a few more niceties over the 2.5 model. Standard for the 350L was full leather interior with heated electric front seats, memory drivers seat, sunroof, dual zone climate control, stability control, rear sunshade, headlight washers, 9 speaker Bose stereo, trunk spoiler, 6 airbags, rear parking sonar, push button start etc, and Xtronic CVT transmission. Has done 84,000km (approx 54,000 miles). Im not quite sure what I will replace it with in the future, as this model is the last Maxima badged car sold in New Zealand. The Altima was meant to replace the Maxima, but was only available for a short time with a 4 cylinder 2.5 engine. Nissan NZ only sell SUV models these days.

Interesting. Sort of a composite of the North American Altima with some 6th generation Maxima for styling.

Nice and welcome here. As mentioned, interesting design. It also has some similarities to Honda Accord from the back. Do you mind posting some engine pics?

I just looked through to posts about your A33 5th gen max and it turns out that that it is the exact car I am looking at buying! small world. Might be a good car if you've owned it, i currently have an A32 cefiro 5 speed manual which I have meticulously maintained, repaired, improved over the past 6 years. I love these cars, and you obviously do to, hope all is going well.

Sure looks a bit different with the air intake and that screen over the radiator than my 09 7th Gen. Looks like the brake fluid container is on the other side than mine. Presumably because it is right hand drive? Thanks for sharing and welcome to the forums!
