Air intake resonator location

I took out my filter, air intake box, etc to access the throttle body. for the life of me, I can not figure out where the resonator attaches behind the motor? It pulled out with the box when I took it out. I have looked everywhere and can not find anything that shows it connected to something behind the motor. I can't see this being an open-ended intake with no filter between it and the throttle body.

You should see it easily with the intake tube off..one end connects to the tube and the other end just is open about in the middle near the firewall .. its black and looks like little horn...lol.

It does not attach to anything.. Leave it off.. Is a " Sound Generator".. Its useless..

If it wasn't important, it wouldn't be there. Engineers designed the intake system for the best performance and efficiency. The physics behind a resonator go far beyond what most on a forum would contemplate. The pressure waves it interacts with inside the intake manifold are why it exists, to facilitate smoother airflow via pressure wave "resonance".

Lol..... Its a sound generator.. Don't complicate a simple part …

I'll dig up and post my sources.

Not exactly a "sound generator". Not quite sure what that even means.

yea I wasn't thinking it was open-ended. I didn't realize there is a baffle inside preventing air from entering the pipe. I was trying to figure out where the opened ended pipe hooked up to that would stop any non-filtered air from entering it. Then once I found the baffle I realized it doesn't hook up to anything. When I took it out the reason it felt like it pulled loose from something was because of the grommet it was attached to. surprisingly with out being able to see anything I was able to put it back.

Unfortunately, all the work I did taking it all apart, cleaning the throttle body, putting new throttle body boot gasket did not fix the idle issue. have a second issue overheating as well. Going to make a post right now to try and eliminate as much as possible. I can't afford a dealer to diagnose this stuff.

Are there any check engine lights on? If so, you'll have to get the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) to try and find out what the problem is. If you disconnected the throttle harness, you'll have to do a relearn procedure for the throttle body so it knows the proper "closed" position as well as the idle air volume relearn procedure. You can find the procedures on https://my4dsc-ic1urvd0hbui0649mdwc....L%20SYSTEM.pdf or Youtube if you need a visual guide.

For your overheating issue, are your fans working properly? If not then you'll have to find out if the motor is bad, if the harness is bad, or if the switch is bad, etc. Did you remove any coolant hoses recently? If so, did you bleed the system of air bubbles? Are there any leaks from the coolant pressure cap or collapsed radiator hoses? If so, then you'll need to replace the cap so your cooling system can hold nominal pressure and flow properly. Is the upper radiator hose cool to the touch when the engine is in closed loop (normal operating temperature) If so, then your thermostat may be fully closed and needs to be replaced. Finally, is there coolant? lol I had to ask.
