Check Engine Light (P0014/P0024)

I've got a check engine light that has been identified by a diagnostic tool as Code P0014/P0024 - B Camshaft Position – Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1 and Bank 2) on my 2013. The check engine light will go away when I drive up to higher altitudes for an extended period of time. I live at an altitude of 65 ft, and when I drive above 4,000 ft. and higher, the check engine light goes off and stays off until I return to my home and the light reappears after a couple of days. This has happened several times now, so its not a one time thing. Any ideas on why that is happening?

You can check cam sensors with an oscilloscope. Other than that, have you had the timing chain or tensioner serviced?

Thanks for the info, but why would altitude affect the cam sensor or timing chain/tensioner?

Altitude wouldn't but the fact that the check engine light goes off while it's under load (climbing upwards) means that while the engine is working, the tension on the chain is corrected because of extra engine load compensating for a failing tensioner. It's just a theory though.

I think it is a vacuum leak...probably small. A cracked or bent hose.Maybe the plenum gasket?
