Looking into buying a performance chip for my 2011 SV any recommendations?

My recommendation is to save your money. Those "performance chips" are snake oil.

I agree 100% I didn’t even know people still sell “performance chips” The nearest thing to a performance chip would be a reflash. But let’s be honest, the transmissions in these cars leave very little room for performance upgrades. This car simply isn’t made for performance upgrades unless the trans is swapped out.

Thanks for the heads. A friend of mines has a 2014 SV and he has a performance chip with the stock trans. Don’t want any problems with mine I want it to last

I guarantee you the "performance chip" on your friends 2014 SV is doing absolutely nothing. Search for "performance chips" on youtube and grab some popcorn. You'll see how they are snake oil.

As the wizard said, most chips are snake oil. I see some that advertise 30-50 whp gain. LMFAO complete joke.

What these chips do,and I’m 99% sure this is what your friends chip did to his car. They either advance or retard the timing. In our maximas, advancing the timing is more beneficial. This cars the car better and faster throttle response. Thus making you feel like it’s got more power etc. definitely not 30 more whp. Then some of them will mess with the air/fuel. Make it a little rich,it’ll idle higher, sound different, boom automatically people the car has undergone some drastic change. It’s all smoke and mirrors. Although nothing wrong with advancing the timing. But you don’t need a silly chip to do that.

As Wiz said, save for something else. The maxima is a good looking car that has great passing power but that’s about it. Shooting for performance with this car requires lots of money. In that case, might as well just get a G or a Q

I agree with Martinez and Wiz on this too, Leave things be these cars are very delicate when it comes to certain mods especially anything that will interfere with the performance of the CVT.

Im just going to stick with cosmetics then. Next thing I’m going to do is upgrade my head/fog lights. I hate the yellow color and how low my headlights shine at times.

You can do things like a y-pipe and exhaust. Will give it a little more pep and make it sound nice. You can also have someone advance the timing 2 degrees. Give it dragster throttle response without all the other crap that these chips say they do. Get some suspension parts to stiffen up the ride. First things first, change the tranny fluid. You want that bad boy to last, give it clean oil.

Got any pics?

I most definitely keep the oil changed every 5k miles. I most likely won’t do anything to make the car loud because I don’t like the sound of the 3.5L V6 so much like that. I’ll post some pics

2011 Maxima SV (64k+ miles)
So far I’ve just done the basics, tint and upgraded interior lightning. I plan on upgrading my tint to 5%. I’ll post interior lightning when I take pics.

Sprint Booster 3

I have a Sprint Booster 3 module with Sport and Race Mode. You will definitely feel the difference in acceleration.

No issues at all, even in manual shift mode. It’s funny but sometimes it can be a bit scary how quick it accelerates.
