2009 Maxima SV Passenger side Headlight issue?!??

I am new here and after a REALLY quick search I was unable to find the right forum for this question.... But....

My passenger side HID bulb went out a few months ago. So I bought 2 new HID bulbs and that didnt help. So after a little asking around I was told to try changing the ballast. I didnt want to go buy a new one if that wasnt the problem, so I used an old Altima that my brother has and hes parting out. I had to actually splice the wires together but wildly enough I was able to get the light working again. For a short time..
. It worked for about month and I didnt find out until I got a ticket haha. So I believe the ballast may fix it, but SOMETHING is being shorted out.

So i guess my question(s) is/are: Has anyone else had this issue? Or does anyone else have an idea of how I can fix this problem for good and PREFERABLE as cheap as possible.. I'm literally just getting back in school through the V.A. and I'm getting divorced at the same time haha, I need to keep as many pennies as possible.
.

Get the ballast the car needs and your problems will be over!

Your Splicing reference concerns me. The ballast should be pin compatible with a 2007-2010 Altima. Did you splice to facilitate running the wires thru the headlight Assy or was there another reason? If another reason, I agree with MaximusN8. Get the correct one. Otherwise, check your splices again and make sure they are well connected and waterproofed.
