7th Gen Maxima Tuned Process

Hey whats up guys,

I know a lot of people on the forums have asked how is the tuning process especially the 7th gen. I live in Miami, FL and it was rather difficult to find someone who would be able to tune our cars since they really didn't want to get the software for it. Luckily my brother got his 3.7L Q50 tuned at Olympic Motorsports using EcuTek, they had offered him to use Uprev for tuning but had heard a lot of Z's got better results on Ecutek. My brother notified me that his tuner would be able to tune it using Uprev. I first tuned my Maxima which has pretty much all the basic bolt-ons you can add which was: Stillen UD Pulley, R2C Short Ram Black Hex Intake, No Muff and Res and a Racingline Ypipe. It took over three hours to download the tune from Uprev for the Maxima but it was worth in the end. The car felt great and wasn't running like **** anymore.Since we can't get accurate WHP on a dyno, my tuner was able to base off his system that I should be around 260-265whp, if i had a proper catback i would get more off the tune. The car ran great for months, I have a couple clips on my youtube page showing how it did against the competition. I started noticing as if the car wasn't properly picking up speed as it used to so I decided to switch out the straightpipe exhaust for the Megan CBE exhaust. I recently retuned the car to compensate for the catback exhaust since i heard my brother was able to get a little more hp off the retune for his catback. My tuner no longer used Uprev software so he decided to use HP Tuners. It's essentially the same ECU reflash, he had connected a cable from his laptop to my ecu which is under the hood latch. We drove around to see how the engine was running since adding the catback. Once we reflashed it the car picks up quickly from 40-80mph. The CVT stock usually would cut power/slowing down around 80mph, since the retune the car keeps pushing well after 120mph. I decided to see how the retune would handle against my brother's Q50 which has 324whp/270tq and to my surprise the car did great. I'll link the video of those pulls against it. Overall the CVT can handle the power increase, I currently have 123k miles on the car and never once had an issue with CVT.
