2010 Maxima SV Shocks/ struts

Original owners in Connecticut, approximately 91,000.00 miles, Have REPORTS from Nissan back 15 thousand miles you Need upper and lower control arms another REPORT BACK about 10 miles you need rear shocks ! Recently had At Firestone for lifetime ( I paid for ) alignment and oil change THEY called and said I need Front struts/ shocks ! I went down there asked about control arms since ALL Related, thay SAID Dont look to bad, no test to confirm either way. I took car with alignment ( free ) and oil change, front tires are wearing toward inside last 1/2 inch, MAYBE From not enough rotation ! I purchased a pair of Front strut/ shocks with springs a rear set of shocks ! Only way I know how to test is push up and down , they do come right back up ! Parts are Monroe, Company will give me FULL REFUND IF THERE NOT SAME SPECS AS ORIGINAL Nissan including shipping, I saw a video from Scotty on thickness of springs Quality etc, etc, he for a test had a 17 year old Lexus that he changed to some Chinese brand He wasn't happy, his wife not happy , he put back original and it rode better than New replacements ! WANT TO AVOID THAT ! WHATS your experience and feedback on this Parts are Monroe front spring and Shock 172605 ( one digit off opposite side ) rear both the same 63-6629 left and right ! THANKS VERY MUCH !!! Mike
I'm in it for approximately $410 .00 I have another mechanic, it seems original springs should be ok ? No ? Maybe compress and change shock, I was inquiring about Moog ( or whatever ) and they didn't have those or KYB ?? TY

Take it to a legitimate alignment shop (you might have to research this). Have them document the specs. If it is out of factory specification, then you have to determine which part is contributing to that. A shop that actually specializes in alignments is going to be able to find that out for you. Worn springs/struts will typically result in cupping of the tires. This video might help you narrow it down, though -

I've had the inner front tires on my car wear out in two instances: (1) front passenger side ball-joint was shot and (2) passenger side front strut-mount was shot. Both resulted in negative camber. In my case, the ball-joint caused wear to both front tires, whereas the strut-mount only caused wear to the front passenger side tire.

Replacing struts/springs with non-Nissan parts is always going to result in a different ride quality. Some will be softer while some will be harsher. The ride with Monroe will be softer while KYB will be harsher.

Looking at the picture, you can see how if a part fails, then the weight of the car is going to force the car into a position of negative camber, which is going to wear the inner side of the tire. Find that compromised part.
