Intelligent key problems. Please help.

So I have a 2010 maxima. My car will not recognize my key unless I set it on my gear shifter. I can only unlock the doors using the key fob, if I hold it above the middle area of my Windshield. I cannot unlock the car by pressing the buttons on the door handles anymore and cannot open the trunk by pressing the trunk button anymore. So about a month ago, my alternator went out and I replaced it and the battery and I noticed that a fuse under the hood was missing so I put one in there. As it turns out that was a fuse for the steering lock, and that's when the problems started with the intelligent key. I have since taken that fuse back out. I have replaced the key fob battery like 3 times now so it's not that. I only have the 1 key fob.
