The 8th generation Maxima...prototypes, news, updates, rumors and more
I'm glad you mentioned differences with us owning an SE and a SL 6th gen both alot of people say there's not much of a difference in the two but neither one of them ride or handle the same. I feel more road imperfections in the SE and barely feel any in the SL. The SE feels slightly more connected to the road but you pay the price in ride quality. The SL with the big 22s the suspension still feels pillowy.
Infiniti has a coupe coming out I'm not sure if it's a coupe version of the Q50 or something different. I know yall are gonna like this one. My hope is that Nissan takes this and puts 4 doors on it now this is what a Maxima should like it if it became one!!!!!!

The new coupe coming out is the successor to the G37C, so yes it is simply the coupe version of the Q50 which is going to be named the Q60.

In a nutshell, the main thing that hurts sales and interest is the CVT. I have driven a 6th, 6.5, and 7th Gen Max. Out of the three, I'd prefer the 6th's slushbox. The CVT in the 6.5 drove me nuts and had me wondering if they castrated the Maxima. The 7th was slightly better but I did not like the performance.
Plus, with the price tag almost approaching Infiniti M levels, Methinks I'd probably go with one of these if I was in the market for a 4dr sedan:

The CVT works good in the 7th gen I haven't got to try it in the 6th gen because I have a 6 and not a 6.5, but I have come to find the less power the more harsh. The CVTs the more horsepower they have the better they work.
Infiniti is trying to revamp it's line to boost sales right now. Most car companies release spy photos a few months to a year prior to its release. Nissan has been very good at hiding the 8th gen Maxima because nobody knows what to expect. Were all getting anxious trying to figure out what this car is gonna look like.

Nakamura the Chief Nissan designer was saying that the Next Maxima is gonna be shocking in looks so I have a feeling this car is gonna catch us off guard like the 6th gen did in 2004. Infiniti is making a car above the M37/56 that has me curious too!
We will see, use to work for Nissan corporate for years before it moved to TN from S. Cal..... Since then I'm in the DFW area for a major airline. This has been said before, whats shocking to them is not so much so for the general public if you get me!
Major Airline that's funny you mentioned it i'm actually a professional pilot and Nissan was doing great when they were in Japan but when they started making everything over here it changed.

It does look GTR-esque, though, which is a big
and I could see this being the front end of the new Maxima...

It's badged as a Nissan because all Infinitis are sold as Nissans in Japan. So this would actually be the Q60 sold in Japan under the Nissan badge.
I know THAT, sillybear. My point was that it could be the style of the new front end of the 8th gen. And you said the new max front end was GTR-and Altima love child...which to me this is...since we all know the front end of the redesigned Alti is just a softer 7th gen max front.
Styling the new Maxima similarly to the new Q70 would be an option IMO...I mean we can all see styling cues up and down the Nissan / Infiniti line...
Either close to the CURRENT M or simiilar to teh new Q70 would be nice.
I don't see Nissan straying from something that's SIMILAR to what they've currently got, in some form...

This looks a lot like the current gen M and it could be the facelift the 2014 Q70 receives, but I can't see it being the next Maxima,
I was just about to post that picture above and ask what do yall think of this. It's handsome but its too luxury and no sport enough.
The picture I posted of the Infiniti coupe that's the one that would do as a Maxima.

The 8th gen Maxima should be a world class car and better than anything in the Midsized segment. Also a bit competitive in the luxury segment. If I was a Nissan Designer I would make the 8th something like this. You dont take this and put a CVT in it and make it a front wheel drive that's sloppy. Instead you make it a RWD give it about 320 Horsepower
and about 317 pound feet of torque. Give it a system when you turn the corners the rear wheels turn at an angle for better handling. Would you guys give it a 6 speed AT or a 7speed AT? It's just my opinion of how I would make an 8th gen Maxima it's not perfect but I wanted to share it. Bottom line Nissan needs to step it up you've got alot of cars out here right now who are way ahead of the current Maxima.

That is true, but let me ask you this...if I didn't work for the OEM then explain to me how I would know that MY14 is going to run its production course all the way through Dec. 2014? Also to add no MY15 will be released. Hmmmmm....oh the wonder....
seeing again how it's unconfirmed by any sources...you could easily be pulling it out your ass. The thing is, soemone who posts solely in this forum, solely in THIS THREAD claiming to have all sorts of Nissan knowledge about this new gen maxima doesn't really have credibility, taking things at face value.
It's just fishy.

And why oh why would Nissan not release a MY15? No other car manufacturer has, to my knowledge at least (I could be wrong) EVER skipped one MY and kept a MY longer than usual. Dodge left us with no Durango for several years, but that's becuase they were in ownership issues.
It's just fishy.

EXACTLY, YOU ARE WRONG. Please do yourself a huge favor and look up the 2008 Nissan Murano and please tell me what you find??? Probably nothing because the last MY of the first generation was 2007 and the first MY of the second generation was 2009. (FYI the production of MY07 ran for more than 12 months).

I was wrong. I even said that I could be wrong, and obviously I was. No Murano for 2008.
But there's a difference in skipping a MY when it's the first-second generation of a vehicle and when it's the 7th-8th gen of a vehicle
But, unfortunately with Nissan it isn't...in any case I'm not here to troll, just to offer some insight. You guys can take it however you would like because at the end of the day truth is truth and a lie is a lie.
at the end of the day truth is truth and a lie is a lie.

Since you've actually seen this thing...and mentioned that there's no prohibition from talking about it, I see no issues with finding some of the spy pics / other pics that look like the new gen car and letting us know "the headlights are these" "the tails look like this"...etc etc. Since the pics of these other vehicles are on the public domain, you wouldn't get in trouble...

Bust seriously, we already have a good idea of what the Maxima is going to look like with the Ellure concept, and that it's supposed to take us unaware, but what about technology? Should we expect Infiniti technology? Maxima's competitors have AWD, Adaptive headlights and cruise control, Front heated and cooled seats, rear heated seats etc. Should we be assured that the Maxima will deliver more premium features than it does now?
