I'm not a fan, will be hard to do some exterior mods. the rear lights no go love the style but not a amber or red light. Looks like a Ford Fusion from the side to the rear quarter panel. im assuming the entire roof is glass since the rear window is so huge. the front his sick but they tried to mix the GTR and Maxima to have a baby. ill stick with my 7thgen until the new 8thgen grows on me.

I wouldn't be too quick to assume that. There's nothing here that's too out-there that it should be dismissed. And IIRC, the 7th Gen matched the show circuit car almost exactly.

If you look at the Murano for example, the concept (resonance) and the spy photos of the production model, they are not that dissimilar at all.

I would venture to guess that the lines may be tamed a little bit, but that the new Max will be strikingly similar to the concept shown today.

The wheels look on the bigger side. Maybe they will be on the top line model- the Nismo version will probably sport RAYS, yes I said NISMO version...

That's kinda flashy, if you will. I see the GT-R lines in there, but doors are too high and almost looks like a crossover of some kind. Not a fan of the LED strips instead of actual fog lights. Not a big fan of the new front end styling either.

But the main question is still, will it have CVT and what kind of drivetrain..That will be the gist of it.

Poor man GT-R

It looks really aggressive

Isn't 300 hp too much for a fwd car?

A lot of modded cars on here are pushing the same HP amount(it just takes a few bolt ons and an aggressive tune). Just remember that manufacturers test power at the crank so a 300HP Maxima is probably 250-260 Wheel HP.

The CVT is a bigger killer than FWD if you ask me. Keep that ish on the Altima, Eco cars and SUVs

Very nice, very "sci-fi"-ish. I wonder how much of the interior we'll see on the production model though.

Painting that silly chrome V in the grille body color was my very first thought on what Nissan should be doing with it. Nice bit of shop work there, 95VQ30. When the car hits the streets, and Maxima.org comes online with an 8th Gen forum, everyone will be doing that to their car. It looks 100x better.

On another note... again with the stupid flappy paddles on a CVT. Makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever.

Again, not a fan of 4 door coupe crap, but for some reason the stuff sells. My guess is VQ35DE variant of last gen with 295-305hp and just a CVT.

Maybe I'm just not an enthusiast like you speed demons lol....what's so bad about the CVT?

I love it in my Maxima, no jerky gear shifts, real smooth at highway speeds. It even "shifts" into high gear when I want it to. I don't measure all the variables and what not. Coming from a Dodge Ram 150, Ford Escort hatchback (5MT), various beater I-4's, a Pontiac Bonneville, and a '12 Camry, I have no complaints about my Max.

Plus, RWD would suck here in Maryland in the winter seasons...I'll take AWD if I had a choice.

Agreed. I drove manuals off-and-on from the late 1940s until I traded my 5 speed manual Datsun 200SX in on a 1985 Maxima in October 1984. There was a time I really preferred a manual tranny.

But time passes and things change. At the time I traded in my 5 speed manual Datsun, I found I was shifting gears over 900 times on the way to work, then over 900 more on the way home (surface street Atlanta traffic), but mostly using just 1st or 2nd gear, and seldom getting over 20 MPH. Mostly just creeping along at 5 or 10 MPH. The manual not only served little purpose in that situation, other than to keep callouses on my right hand and fingers, but made it harder to eat breakfast while I was driving.

Having majored in geophysics, I knew many decades ago that there would ultimately come a time when trannies would not shift. Any shifting point is an instant, no matter how short, when the engine is running (and using fuel), but no accelleration is taking place. Adding additional shift points in order to keep shifting trannies closer to CVTs in potential accelleration does improve accelleration, but also adds even more instaneous points at which no accelleration takes place.

There will come a time at which CVTs can handle 600 HP and will out-accellerate all shifting trannies. But, for my style of driving (generally mildly aggressive), the CVT already works exceptionally well. Yes, it took me months to reach the point where I felt I was driving my CVT in an optimum way, but I have enjoyed every moment of time spent with this CVT. It is all in the footwork, the tach and the brain. The hands are always free to do anything I wish. Donut anyone?

I miss this guy. Nice to see you're still around and kicking, buddy. Been a few years since I've seen your SN.

Think you're going to trade in on the next model Maxima?
