Drying Method
So I used to detail for BMW back in the day (1998) and chamois were the best way to dry a car then. I recently read that there is a better way. I refuse to think that micro-fiber towels are the way to go.

I had the same questions because I have been a chamois user for decades. I'm now convinced that with the proper grade of microfiber towel, you can achieve results that surpass a chamois. Read my posts #14 and #16. I would highly recommend the microfiber towel that I bought. After washing the car and then removing the spray nozzle and letting a gentle stream of water run over the car, the towel was able to dry the entire car without needing to be wrung out. Excellent results and no scratching. No pressure is needed as the towel glides effortlessly across the paint. On the horizontal surfaces, just as I would do with a chamois, I would just hold the corners of the towel, throw it out over the car, and then pull it toward me.

I have also detailed for years. My go to now is Meguiars X2000 Water Magnet Drying Towel. I have a half dozen of them. They absorb water like you wouldn't believe! It's a microfiber towel, not a chamis. You can get them in autopart stores, but I order them from Amazon.
