Car Barks

Can someone explain why my wife 2016 Maxima makes a barking noise (yes it is a dog barking)when the car pulls into the driveway? The navigation is off so I know it is not that.

I looked in the manual but could not find it.

The only way I'm aware of this happening is through navigation. Addresses can have custom sounds associated with them including a dog bark.

Agree to a point, it must have something with nav or the car would not know where is at but the home address is not set or any other. Would make sense if we had it set to give directions to the house but it is not.

actually, when you associate aa sound to the location (and you can choose a variety of proximity distances up to 1000 yards) then the vehicle will issue that sound when your get to that point, navigating or not. It seems kinda cool until about the third time...then your want it off.

Ded Reckoning in the car? If so that's pretty cool.

Not so much Dead Reckoning... the GPS is still turned on even when not using NAV. However, once your arrive at the GPS coordinates specified for that "sound" assignment -- you get your bark.

Now, it *is* possible to turn off the GPS, but then, that isn't needed to solve this problem. Just change the sound profile.
