Positive Review 2016 Max

I'm personally still in my 2003 Max which has continued to serve my well till this point, but considering upgrading to 2017 model; excited about the new design, but wanted to wait it out a year before upgrading. For my budget of 38K or so, only considering two vehicles as my next purchase...Max or mid trim Grand Cherokee; kinda lukewarm on the GC due to past transmission issues on the 2014 model, but like the look of the vehicle

Very fair review. He mentioned all the good points as well as all the slight gripes we have seen here. He likes the car, especially the interior quality and the performance of the engine. He is clearly among those who are not big CVT fans, but admits that the 2016 Maxima CVT performs very well, with the only 'fault' being that drivers have to get used to the different sounds coming from a CVT than we are used to hearing from older trannies.

I certainly agree with your comments. Even the newest CVT which is tightened up considerably when compared to my old 2010, offers up a different set of sounds which I have totally gotten used to. Call it the "new normal" which brings me a 33 MPG road average! The boy racers (me included in years past) will be more irritated as the standing stop thru 60 mph doesn't offer the firm shifts we know from other cars, but then again, this is the wrong car to buy if that is what is important.
