Cruise Control "Not Available"

Over the last month twice, I have started to engage the cruise control on my 2016 Maxima Platinum and got the message in the drivers dash display=> Cruise Control "Not Available". This occurs after the CC is turned on at the steering wheel switch. Was able to reset the CC to working order by stopping the car, turning off the engine, waiting 30 seconds then restarting car. I get no other residual fault messages before during or after the incident. Anyone else seen this?

Not unless I turn off Dynamic Vehicle Control (or whatever it's called). Take it back to the dealer.

Could be a malfunction, but check for blockages. This can happen if it's really dirty, or snow and ice cover the sensor area.

Isn't the sensor for the cruise control peeping through the lower half of the front Nissan 'hamburger?' Check there very closely.

The only time I got that message was because of snow buildup on the front end while driving.

That is the front camera on a Platinum. The ICC sensor is mounted behind black part of the bumper to the left of the Nissan logo.

#2 below is the sensor location.

I had that same issue with my car. One time I was on a trip and it was raining very hard and off and on the cruise wouldn't work. Same message. I hit a deer recently and when they fixed my car they had to replace the sensor on the front and calibrate it and I haven't had a problem since. I think my sensor may have been out of adjustment from the factory because everything seems to work better now than it did before.

I have had the cruise "unavailable" when ice built up on the front bumper and blocked whatever sensor was needed. Cleaning off the bumper restored normal function until it built up ice again.

Thanks for the input and even a diagram of where to look for the sensor! I will check that area for dirt etc. Glad to hear I was not the only one with the issue.
