projecter headlight

On the 2016 SL the low beams are halogen bulbs. Are these installed in a projection housing. In other words can I install H11 led bulbs or H11 HID kits in the housing of the 2016 SL and get the proper light pattern.

I believe they are the same projectors. There are different part numbers between the platinum/SR and the SL/SV/S. The dealer told me that the only difference was that the platinum/SR headlight had the LED module already mounted on them. I didn't verify this information, as I didn't take apart either of the 2 assemblies. But it would be safe to assume that you're able to use the projectors for LEDs or HIDs.

correct me if i am wrong (likely that i am, though lol)

aren't the projector housings differ by their reflector's coating?
such as, xenon/led having more "tougher" when it comes to heat absorption.

i assume this because after putting hid's on halogen projector, from two different cars, that they lose their brightness over time. as if, the coating gets (burnt up?).

or maybe i am just going nuts....

I would find it hard to believe that Nissan would manufacture 2 different headlamp assemblies (the actual protectors aren't sold seperately) because they're the same exact size. They do have different part numbers, but Nissan parts verified that the SR/Plat part numbers have a module included in it. One way to somewhat find out is to see if there is space on the S/SV/SL headlight assembly to mount that module. If that is the case, it seems that they're using the same assembly. This however wouldn't guarantee it, but would make me believe more that they're the same.

The headlamps are projection type for the low beams on all models. You can tell its a projector because there is a lens that the light is going through (i.e you cannot see the bulb). Regular headlamp housings you would see the bulb and a reflective dome behind it like the fogs or high beams.

been thinking about this the whole day... caught daydreaming a few times lol

maybe using 55w hids (mostly generic) rekt my headlight output before...

i guess the main difference between the halogen and led headlight housings would be the bulb type connector. being that the halogen is h11, and (not defined in manual) led is probably like d2s for prior model years.

a guy told me that the xb35 by morimoto has pretty good output.

Are you talking about your 2013 Nissan Altima? I did have the same vehicle and had HIDs installed only for a very short period before putting them back to factory. I do know that they have projectors for the low beams. I think the question is, do the trims that come with factory LEDs have the same projectors as the Max's with factory halogens.

On a side note why I didn't have HIDs for too long...Had to replace bulbs/ballasts so many times. Only way I could have done this was to ride my motorcycle to the shop I purchased the kit from which was about 45 min away. Started getting very frustrating and too often.

yup, i was talking about my 13 altima. forgot to include on post.
i tried out almost three different setup on its last 6 mos to find a brighter output.
i even got the lenses changed to a clear one; 55w + 6000k would not get me the same output as i hoped. but that car is gone...

i love the output and cut-off line the maxima puts out with an led.

i don't remember seeing a hid converted halogen projector cut-off line here yet though...
i assume they would be the same with the led projector, yeah?
