New Owner and Switchback DRL LED board

Hey all!! Im Geno. Finally, I got the time to sign up and get involved in Maxima forum for the first time. I purchased 2016 Maxima Platinum with full packages last Nov and Im totally in love with it! I swapped my fog light bulbs to LED which made by Diode Dynamics.

Today, I took the car to the shop and they installed Diode Dynmaics Switchback DRL LED board. It looks so bright than the original one. Here are a few pictures below.

Switchback DRL LED. LED will turn amber/orange when turn signal is on.

Nice! How much did the shop charge you to open up the housing? I'm considering this very much but still skeptical. If I were to jump ship, I'm also doing a complete overhaul where in changing out our projectors as well and go full blown out with this.

Thanks! well it cost me $300 because the installer did it alone and it took him about 4 hours to get it done. I know it sounds little pricey. I dont trust myself to open up the housing. At least, it is all done.

According to the invoice paperworks. Yup all is included and he removed the bumper. It comes with warranty for good one year. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Do you live in the northeast? Lots of places by me don't offer any warranty on this type of work, which means that they're not certain of jobs like these. Offering warranty = confidence in their work.

I live in Chicago. This job was done by shop at ZWorks Automotive Customization. http://www.zworklights.com

Maybe call them and see if they know any shop in the northeast that offers warranty?

Hey Geno, did you notice a difference in color with the DRLs. They are a warmer white than the low beam LEDs usually. Wondering if it gives off a cooler white when you added the switchbacks?

I looked up the pictures and compared factory OEM DRL and DD DRL switchback board. I noticed that the colors are little difference in between two. With switchback board, I see little more clean white color 6500k than factory OEM drl.

That's great! And with them being brighter like you said sounds like an upgrade all around. Just purchased. Can't wait to see them on my car. Says on website 6-8 week time. Did you have to wait that long?

I ordered like a month ago. I'd say probably around 3-4 weeks. I know it sucks. Here is the pic below of what switchback boards white led look like.

http://www.diodedynamics.com I suggest you to order asap because it takes 4-6 weeks. I ordered like a month ago and I had to wait for 4 weeks for it to be arrived.

Awesome thank you I will have to order them ASAP. What HID and fog Temperature color did you go with to match?

Keep in mind this will require you to open up your headlight assembly and reseal it. That's the only thing that's holding me back from doing this.

Yeah I have a custom shop by my house in Arizona that does custom work all the time.I will send you a link. They did some work on my Altima before I had this Max. http://www.azmotortrendz.com/#!gallery/cee5. So I don't think it will be the issue. The labor is what paying for sucks but if you want a good job done and done right then it is worth it.

Not sure if this has been addressed, but when you switch them out do they only function when you turn the parking/ headlights on. Or do they still function as the originals did they turned on when the car was on?

6500K should yield a bluish tint so the must be nearer 5500K. I'd love to have this done on my Platinum but I almost want to get a second set, have them modded, and keep the originals. I see lots of these headlight units on EBAY. I am disappointed the factory stock units do not include LED turn signals. Front and rear

Same functions like the originals. It turns on like what it is supposed to be.

Yeah, I noticed that the turn signal bulbs have slow response than DRL switchback boards.

When I get them installed I'll actually request to disconnect the turn signal bulb so I could have just the DRLs turn amber. I think it would look much cleaner that way. I think that could be done right?

Hmm I never thought of that. I like your idea. Thanks!! Maybe... just take the turn signal bulbs out?

Ok great I wasn't sure because in the video installation they said there was no use for the old power connector but didn't state how they plugged in the new set. So it just left me wondering.

Take them out or disconnect them. Should work. Let us know how it goes if you try it.

I don't believe our vehicles can indicate whether or not a bulb is out., so probably not.

You are really ambitious so we are looking forward to seeing how the boards install from your perspective. I do wish someone offered an already assembled light housing including this up grade so it was a swap out process.
