Driving off without key fob.

car will shut-off if one tries to start, then drive the car after using the key fob to start the engine. that's great.

but... once the car has been fully started (pressing of the brake + start button), the car can be driven away with the key fob not in the car. likely for when the fob battery decides to die while driving.

i'm just saying ... watch out for carnappers.

This is very true. A friend of mine was shopping Maximas and came over to my house to look at my SR. I started it up, showed him some things about it, and then let him take it out for a drive on his own. When he returned about fifteen minutes later, I realized I had the key in my pocket the entire time. It seems like my Mercedes with push button start would allow this also.

Same in the 6th gens. I went to meet up with my mechanic and never turned the car off. He had to take it around to the shop and I realized I never gave him the key. Also I have noticed i can still lock the car with the Nissan Key Fob, if I exit it and its still running. I can not lock the car though with my aftermarket alarm/remote start if it is still running.

Nissans had the option of locking the vehicle while engine is running. I had this in my 13 Altima. Good feature when you're stopping in a store and want to keep the cabin cold/hot in the exteeme weather

Yeah i would just get off the car and press the lock button on the handle and its going to lock while its running.
Once in my brothers chevy impala, I left the car and went for a round in my friends car and I had forgotten to lock it. When I came back the car was gone! I nearly pissed my pants lol I called my brother and obviously he played a prank on me and told me hes not with the car. He was gone for around 30 mins.
That just goes to show that you can even drive a thousand miles and the car won't stop until you actually stop it yourself, then obviously it won't start back without the key fob.
