Forward Braking System
Forward Braking System
I have 2016 SR. I need some input on the term "Forward Braking System" I have used this on cruise control and it works flawlessly. It even brings the car to a complete stop.
How does this system works on let's say city driving and wall in front of you??
Thought?? Has anyone tried it?

The forward emergency braking system and intelligent cruise control are two different things. Although both use the same radar sensor.
The forward emergency braking is designed to apply the brakes to help you slow down in the event of an unavoidable collision. It will beep first to warn you and then apply the brakes if you don't react quick enough. I've had the warning beep a few times, mostly when someone is turning right let's say in front of me. Never had the actual braking kick in, don't think you want it to because it will only stop the car if it's going about 12mph or less, otherwise you will hit the object but it will reduce the speed.
There are 30 pages in your owner's manual dedicated to the cruise control and forward collision/braking systems that describe all the details of how they work and what the limitations are.
Bottom line is, cruise control will work the same way in city driving as it does on the highway as long as it detects a vehicle in front of you. Will not detect a wall, pedestrian, oncoming vehicle, etc.

I love how I can use the intelligent cruise control even in high traffic. When the cars infront stops, the intelligent cruise control disengages but as soon as cars infront start moving, i'd press resume and it engages the intelligent cruise control again. I only wonder if I'm over using it and might kill it soon lol
