Happens when your car is transported by train to its location. When you wash your car it will scratch it. It also makes tiny pieces of rust in your paint especially in the platinum white paint. I made the dealership clay bar my brand new car before I took it.
When my '17 was delivered it had white plastic coating all over it, protecting it from "rail" dust from trains or car haulers. I was picking off small flecks of that plastic paper for months! That said, I am a detail nut with all my cars (most are for show), and I've got to say that all of them, to one degree or another, show swirl marks if the light is just right. Easy removal with clay bar and judicious use of auto detail buffer and polish, followed by clear spray final polish, such as ICE.

My car is 4 years old, i have been a Nissan owner my entire life and i have never seen something like this before. I will very much appreciate anyone that can provide some guidance as to what other options i have at this point. I am thinking to either file a complaint with the consumer affairs agency in my state (NJ) or better yet if i can get more people that are facing the same issues, we can get together to file a class action lawsuit against Nissan.

it's obvious that this is a factory defect and from the looks of it, it appears as if they had a primer issue because the paint is completing coming off the metal piece. Please reference Nissan's response below, as well as the pictures illustrating the issues in my car.

Best Regards,

My paint chips are in the rear bumper near the fender. Has gradually gotten worse over the years. Problem showed up in 2018.
