Accessories installation: Diffuser and Rocker Panel Molding

Hi all,

I'm planning to add the diffuser and rocker panel molding to my Storm Blue SR. Before I order them from Nissan's estore, I would like to see if any one of the members here had installed these two items. How difficult is the installation: is it a job that requires a shop mechanic or can an owner with a simple wrench handle it?

Have anyone seen any installation walkthrough out there?

Thanks.

You should be able to install those parts yourself. If you're handy with tools and have a good eye to line it up, you'll do fine. They come with instructions and it's nice to have a friend with you for help to hold things in place. I have not installed the factory parts, but I have installed the splitter and diffuser from stillen. I had zero issues with stillens full kit for the 7gen on install. A factory part will be a 100% fit and go on perfect. Give it a try and see how it comes out. You may save yourself money and be happy with the outcome. You can always take the parts to an installer if you have trouble. Make sure to use blankets or cardboard to lay the parts on. You do not want to scratch the surfaces of your new accessories. Clean your surfaces very thoroughly. You will need to prep the surface for proper adhesion. If there is double sided tape adhesion promoter will hold the parts in place with a better bond. Good luck!!

I installed the rocker panels myself. It's pretty straight forward and not very difficult. It will probably take you about half an hour. If you don't have a way to lift your car, you will need a right angle drill due to limited ground clearance to screw in the panels.

Does the installation of the rocker panel required to drill holes or screw through metal?

I have found that Quirkparts.com have the cheapest prices on these parts. It is easier to look them up if you have the parts numbers.

Rocker panel molding is rattling. The Nissan Service Dept. installed them but now I have a rattle on the passenger side. It's worse when it's windy outdoors. I took it in once to but they said it wasn't the molding but the lower shield under the motor being loose. Now the rattle is back.
