What would you change about your 8th Gen Maxima, if you could?
1. Upper assist handle on the driver's side, to match pass. side one.
2. Heated steering wheel button mounted on steering wheel so don't have to take eyes off road while fishing around for the button.
3. Upper hooks in rear to hang sport coat, hat, etc. Why were they eliminated anyway.
4. Extend console upper pad an inch further forward to more easily rest right elbow when gripping steering wheel with right hand near the 5 o:clock position.
5. Put the old style Altima arm console on the Max. I call that the "show and hide". Hide your concealed carry in the bottom of the console, but have the option to open the console lid so only the upper tray is displayed (showing only gloves, tire pressure gauge, or whatever). That was a great feature Nissan dropped. Wonder if the Altima still has that?

More suggestions
I have a '16 SR.
1. Better sound system
2. Less bumpy ride on SR model. The rough ride is actually making me think about getting the Platinum or another car.
3. Passenger seat height adjustment. Glad to hear the '18 now offers this option.
4. Lighted USB ports. I heard they're lighted in newer models. Can someone confirm?
5. Glove compartment light. It only lights up if the car lights are on.

Wish it had LED brake lights and turn signals. My 2017.5 Platinum only have LED marking lights on the back. Also why the passenger seat can not be lifted? The key fob looks exactly like the one I had on my infiniti in 2008...I love the car, I can;t think of other shortcomings. Have no issues with the CVT and front wheel drive. It is a beautiful car.

Now that you've driven your new 8th generation Maxima for a few weeks/months/years, I'm curious about what you would change about the stock features of your car if you could. Either interior, exterior, handling, or under the hood dislikes.
For me, my #1 pet-peeve is the chrome door handles. Unless you have silver, I just think it really stands out and takes away from the overall euro/import styling that you would see on a higher priced car.
The typical non Maxima (or current) driver complaint is obviously going to be the CVT or no AWD or RWD options, but I'm hoping to hear what other owners think about their current rides the way Nissan offers it. Who knows, maybe a Nissan marketing rep. or engineer may get a hold of this and implement some of our ideas in the 9th Gen.!

I guess I can be considered an oldie now, and I say this is the best car I've ever owned. I just love the body style, and it's still attracts comments even if it's a '17 model. The exterior design has held up very well. To me, and some others, it has not dated itself. I like this car's road manners on the interstate and I love the way it corners. I love the suspension. It is just sporty enough to make driving fun. I generally love everything about the interior. The leather has held up extremely well. Matter of fact it still looks brand new. The leather is not even wrinkled nor has any of the finish rubbed off yet. I love the generous trunk. I even love the CVT. Matter of fact I owned a new Altima with 125,000 mi before the Maxima and I turned down many other family size cars because they did NOT have a CVT. In over 200,000 mi of CVTs neither one has ever given me a bit of problem. As for my dislikes, I think the A pillar is way too thick and it often makes it difficult when making a left hand turn, especially at night. I've had two sets of tires now and each set exposes a bit more of the rims than I'd like them to, resulting in some minor parking rash. I have a lift and do my own oil changes and that oil filter is one stinker to get to without dripping oil all over the place, even with a lift. I can't think of really anything else I dislike about this fine car. At least it suits my needs and wants. When I want to drive a real sports car I take out either one of my Corvettes or my Harley.
