Miles per tank

I sometimes see folks here posting about their 'miles per tank' of gas. As many here have heard me say for the last 15 years or so, please do not EVER let your gas tank get lower than a quarter tank. At this time of year, I never let mine get below a half tank. This snowstorm has over 200,000 customers in Georgia without power. Many of those customers are gas stations. Hundreds of vehicles have been abandoned along roads all over north Georgia. Most are there not because they slid off the road, but because they ran out of gas when all the gas stations lost power and the pumps quit working. The temperatures where I live the past few nights were in the twenties. That will be true several more nights. When we are trapped in a brutal storm, having fuel in the car can be a matter of life or death. It may be fun to take risks with fuel in spring or fall, but please don't take a chance during winter weather. We need to keep all the posters here alive and posting.

Light,

As always, you are absolutely correct! Thanks for your wise and caring public service announcement. I hope you and your car are both doing well. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family. May God continue to bless you and yours!

Thanks Light,

My mechanic always told me never to run it so low as well, because more gunk gets into the engine that way. That may be true, I don't really know.
