2016 Maxima SR driver side door will not open
Hello guys need advice and assistance. We were out of town due to my father-in-law passing and during the drive back from AR to TX the Maxima surpassed the 36k so exact miles is 36,442. I took the Maxima to Courtesy Nissan in Dallas Saturday and was informed today Monday 2/26 the door and window must be replaced and will cost of $2100 plus. I asked if they could cover it under warranty since I was only 400 miles over and wast out of town due to a death. The advisor told me to call 800-Nissan 1 to discuss a possible "good will". Can anyone out there give advice or assistant before I call tomorrow?
Thanks,
Ernie

Ernie

2. Have the name of your Service Advisor with you when you call.
3. How long did you know about the door problem before your trip. This is an important detail.
4. Do you have history owning Nissans. If so, this will help.
5. Explain the problem to them like you explained it to us.
I think you have a VERY good chance of having Nissan cover this if it was defective parts and/or installation of the door.
Good luck with this and let us know what they say. Sounds like a case of just **** poor timing for this door problem.

compyelc4,
Thanks for the comments and my replies below...
1. No accident at all so it's a mechanical/defective parts/issues
2. Francisco Torres w/Courtesy Nissan Dallas
3. 1st time for me maybe the Forum might have other members that has had the same issues
4. Yes, this will be my 5th Maxima
5. Priority is family
Will definitely keep everyone in the loop...

I had the AC clutch fail just outside the extended warranty on my wife's 11 Murano. It was within the mileage but outside the months. Nissan agreed to pick up the labor and I picked up the parts. $1200 repair reduced to $400. Had the dealer not offered picking up the labor I would have changed the clutch myself.

Something similar happened to my '16 SR (rear passenger door) w. 33k miles. I noticed that in cold weather (in OH), the door would not unlock and I couldn't even force the lock from the inside of the car.
The service guy mentioned that there is a TSB related to this. I'm not sure if that means they cover cost even if it's outside of my warranty coverage, but perhaps some dealer with treat that as a recall? Hope you find a free/cheaper resolution.
