Why doesn’t Nissan give the Max more love?

Just curious. It seems as if the Altima and Rouge get all the advertising and I understand they are the sales leaders. And the Maxima has been around for a long time. I just never see any advertising for the Max and I wonder why? My ‘17 easily compares in quality to a Mercedes C class or BMW 3 series. My friend has a basic 3 and can’t believe how much nicer the Max is and how many more features it has for less bucks. I’ve driven a couple of C class and the interior is a lot cheaper in feel compared to the Max.

Anyway, just curious what anyone thinks.

I guess it meets annual sales figures.

I have a friend who drives a Top of the line new C class and my Max platinum is way more luxurious inside. It is a beautiful car for the money.

From what I've read, the Max sells pretty good for a class that isn't so popular these days. I also wonder why they don't advertise it, at least a little.

Of course advertising cuts into profits, and since this isn't a high-volume production car, they did the math and figured there wouldn't be much return on investment.

Advertising works best when you you got clearly defined demographic audiences to target. Lots of cars fit neatly into one niche... whether it's sports car, family hauler, luxury, etc. I don't think the Max fits any one of those categories perfectly. It's semi luxurious, it's sporty but not a sports car. It's got four doors but that's not enough for lots of families these days. Without a clear identity, it's a hard car to advertise

These cars are not cheap starting at 33k base. Could be why you see more advertising for the Altima/Rogue.

As you say, Altima and Rogue are the sales leaders so they get the bulk of the advertising. I've seen the info on the 2019 Altima, and I have to say it nearly makes the Maxima redundant with the standard and available features, similar styling cues, and much improved interior. It is getting the new variable compression 2.0T and an AWD option as well. The V6 engine will really be the only reason to consider the Maxima going forward and that won't be enough for most.
