E-Power steering fluid low

I have 2017 Platinum that I have had for just over a year and only have 8300 miles on it. But I have had to add power steering fluid on it twice already. Its been about every 6 months when I have to add the fluid. No leaks that I see. Both times it has been so low it doesn't even measure on the cap. I did get the Nissan E-power steering fluid for it. Anyone else have this issue?

Unless the E-Power steering fluid ferry is secretly stealing your fluid...you have a leak.

Take it to your dealer for warranty repair.

Yeah, should have made and appointment the first time, it's surely a leak. Power steering fluid level never goes down, where brake fluid may go down as the pads wear and pistons travel farther. But PS, never goes down as you had described.

Yep, Rick and MadMax correct. Power steering fluid level should not drop. Warranty job.

Agree with lightonthehill and the others here. I have never had an issue with the power steering being low with any of my cars.

Well I took the car in to the dealer and they said that they couldn’t find anything wrong. No leaks. They couldn’t explain whey I have had to add fluid. They did say not to top it off before I bring it in for the next oil change, which will be in about 5k miles since I just did it myself a week ago. So we shall see.

My 17 SR is in the shop right now. It's been consuming fluid, 2 top offs in 30k miles. 3 weeks ago dealer added dye to inspect for leaks with blacklight. I was told to drive it a while and bring it back. Dropped it off this morning and they have confirmed one of the power steering fluid reservoirs is leaking. New part ordered and will be here Tuesday. In a complimentary loaner Rogue until then. Covered under factory warranty.

Glad you were able to find the cause. The Rogue has been doing well for Nissan. After you pick up your Maxima, you could give us your opinion of the Rogue, although admittedly it will be based on limited time and miles.

No offense, glad I am not the only one that has this issue. I have had to top off mine twice in 8400 miles, and they say no leaks. Hum, so where is the fluid going? I will just keep any eye on it and when it is low again I will take it back to the dealer. I know exact the mileage when I topped it off so I can let them know.

I just checked mine, I would assume is fine? How do you know you have to add more, will you get a warning in the display?

I will let you know what they did once I get it back. As for the Rogue, I'm a rogue sport. Too small for me. Feels narrow. Drives ok. Typical excellent Nissan seats. Needs more power. Otherwise it's fine... I'm 6ft1 and 290 lbs so I like a bigger car.
