Premium or regular

Hey guys
Do you use regular and are there any negative effects? Just traded 2012 sv in for a 17 sl. Always used premium in 2012 and bought it new. Wondering if I can save some money without causing trouble for myself

Go to 2016 Vs 2017 Reliability, below. A few posts into the subject you will find pros and cons on this "debate". :-) In short, some us prefer regular grade (and doing just fine), while others will use mid-grade or premium and again, are doing just fine. If you are a hot-shoe you might want to go with premium. If you drive reasonably, regular may work for you. Nissan "recommends" premium, unlike Chevy who "requires" premium in my Vette.

Your vehicle owner's manual specifically states:

This is like the .45 vs 9mm or Glock vs 1911 debate on gun forums. 😂

Performance will take a hit. That said, if you start using regular now, you'll never know what you are missing. But if you've run premium in it already, you'll feel the loss. Also to note, I think MPG's will suffer a little with lower octane. So what you saved at the pump, you may lose having to fill up more frequently.

Dude, you bought a premium tuned car, if you didn't want to pay for that gas, you should have bought a car that uses Regular. Kia Cadenza for instance, 290 hp, 87 octane recommended.

Just last night I got to the end of the first tank from the dealership. I’m certain they put regular in it, so I haven’t experienced premium ride yet and it’s such an improvement from my 2012with premium.

Reading a a thread about mpg one person mentioned regular so I wondered how many owners actually use it.

I almost always use premium, but I'm thinking of downgrading to regular. My driving has gotten a lot more aggressive over the last year or so without my realizing it and I'm trying to go back to driving more normally. Plus, I hate burning premium while sitting in traffic or at stop lights or idling, and it is happening quite a lot.
