Accelerating while on cruise control

2018 Maxima SV. On the expressway, on cruise control. I accelerate, I see the small indicator on the dash blinking, and I also have the impression/feeling that the car is resisting acceleration while on cruise control.

Is it just my imagination, or is it real and I haven't read the owner's manual properly?

I think you are imagining it. Using the accelerator or the "increase speed" button on the steering wheel will make the car accelerate. The use of the pedal overrides the CC

That's what I thought ... That's how it always works. Thanks.

The SV doesn't have the intelligent cruise control, so it may be a little different from my experience

the cruise will will start to slow down if the car in front of you is slowing down. I can usually overcome that my holding my foot slightly on the gas. Then I can creep up a bit closer than the automatic setting would normally allow.

I frequently drive through Orlando, one of the craziest stretches of road in America. I'm actually quite impressedhow well the ICC works in heavy traffic. Still keep my foot nearby just in case

My 2016 Max ICC is still a little abrubt as it approaches slower cars. Not so good in heavy Chicago traffic. I am hoping my soon to be aquired 2019 Plat is a little more refined. Glad yours is doing a better job

The blinking number could be due to:
1. You're over the cruise control speed you set. i.e. coasting
2. You're over the speed limit (if you have that flipped on, somewhere)
