Used key fob replacement

I bought a used 2017 Maxima from The dealership. Car came with one fob and one key that fits a spare fob. I bought a used replacement fob off eBay and the dealership is telling me they can reprogram it at all. The used fob I bought is an OEM Nissan fob. Had anyone dealt with this, is the dealership trying to get me to buy a fob from them at an outrageous price? Can these not be reprogrammed at all once programed. I'm just not forking out damn near $300 for a new fob. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Found the answer, once programed it can never be reprogrammed. Bummer.

yeah... they cant be re-programmed.. just buy a new fob off ebay..cheap like 50-60$ new. prgramming by the dealer was more expensive than the key itself

edit, paid 59.99 for my keyfob couple years back

take it to a local locksmith.
most dealership used local locksmith to handle keyfob issues.
This will be alot more cheaper and to go to them directly.

I bought a extra fob for my '17 Platinum from this seller on eBay and it worked perfectly. The dealer had no problem programming it.
