No 8th gen throttle cut?
No 8th gen throttle cut?
So, my 2014 Maxima would cut power around 80 mph under full throttle. My 2018 doesn't seem to have this crippling feature. Feels like it keeps pulling. Can anyone confirm this? I saw another thread about it but nothing for sure.
No throttle cut. I’ve heard from a couple of people as well as some YouTube reviewers said the same thing.
Yes, at 132 it was very scary. Although pushing over 100 the car feels stable. And it’s not really difficult for a car to overtake someone at lets say 102-108. I do travel quite a lot through Northwest. The speed limit is 80 mph over there. But everyone goes 90. Sometimes semis go over 80 and if you stuck behind cattle hauler you’ve gotta over take or slow down a coupe of miles back. Because Cattle Haulers can push all the way to 85 and even 90( they are risking ). There are the most fastest truckers out there. But they have no choice the cattle can stay for 18 hours in the trailer. So imagine going 90 behind cattle hauler.

I can not speak to the Maxima, only to my 02 Altima SE and 12 SR. Both shut down/cut power at 130mph. It is as if you lifted you foot from the gas pedal. My 89 240 SX would do it at 115 I believe if memory serves me correctly. Most cars these days have electronic limitations. 135 is certainly not the top speed capability of a maxima.
I have had the Max up 130, Its very easy to get up there and its only for short periods because all of the roads suck and there are only a few areas where its even possible, At some point I want to see if I am able to get around the Gov.
I had a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville GXP(loved that car) It had a V8 and the car stopped at 135 and I forget but RPMs were somewhere around 4k.. So the car just stopped accelerating but you could tell there was still more available. So I found a cheat and I was able to get around the Gov on that car. So when I was maxed, I ever so slighly let off the gas to drop the rpms down a tad and then proceeded to accelerate and long behold I was able to get the car right past the Gov and up to 150, Then I slowed down.
So Maybe that Trick works for the Max?
