RPM surge with slow acceleration

So I have been having a issue with the max for a while but it only happens once in a while as this is not my daily driver.

If I step on the gas, sometimes the engine will rev all the way up like you are stomping on the pedal but the car doesn't really accelerate. so you could be at 5000rpm yet the car barely feels like its moving and then other times the car flys.

Usually its within the first 20-30 minutes of driving, so when it first happened I attributed it to the transmission being "cold" even tho in the summer when its 90 out, it never gets cold.

Truthfully Idc since the lease is up i n Feb, and the problem is not getting worse, I notice it once every 9-10 times I drive the car. I am just curious if anyone else has had the same issues.

I would first be interested in what your Nissan technician says about the matter. Secondly, if your least is expiring then why do you care. Just move on, unless you plan to get another car with CVT. Finally, 5000 RPM?? Dang.

Here's the thing, it's a lease, under warranty. Get in and get it checked out at very least. If they can't find the problem it is what it is, if they do and fix it, you're good. They should get you into a loaner Maxima so you will be able to drive home let them work on the car for several days. If it happens all the time, shouldn't be hard to diagnose. By the description sounds like a real safety issue in that you can't depend on the car at all.
