Help!! I can't figure this out.

Good afternoon to my fellow Maxima owners, I'm new to the forums and a I purchased at 2016 Maxima SR. I can't seem to figure out what is missing on my car. Please help me out. On both sides of the rear body molding there seems to be a missing part. On all other maximas I see that it is supposed to be all black in the circled areas. No white showing. Is it tape or adhesive or paint? Please let me know.

These areas are from where the bodyshop spot welded the new roof on after the accident..

I don't get it though, so it was welded wrong? Everything seems that it is in place. I also didn't replace the roof, just the left side quarter panel. The right side never got touched.

It looks like the material that is used around the doors. Some type of film or tape, not paint. Until you get the correct material just put a strip of electrical tape on there to cover the white.

I feel like the weld thing was just a put-on jab, to find out you had body work on the car????

But yeah, as someone pointed out, probably a vinyl wrap in that area based on 2young just posted.

I figured it out and your are right. It's a special film Nissan uses, had absolutely nothing to do with welding. Only work that was done was the bumper trunk and the left side quarter panel.

So someone removed the tape? For no reason?

Maybe rear glass was shattered? Or they had those black plastic things replaced and they damaged the tape?

Well, I'll be dipped in dog poo. I would have bet good money that my '17 SL did not have that wrap. Thanks to all for making me freeze my butt off walking out to the garage to check mine out (nuts to global warming). Low and behold.......... thick black wrap!
