Any high mileage 8th gen owners here? How’s your car chugging along so far?

I do think my alternator is showing some signs of needing to be replaced though. There was one instance of me losing power on the highway with no acceleration so I pulled over and then I turned off my car and then it wouldn't turn on again. Got a jump, changed the battery and it was fine but the battery warning light flashes on and off sometimes under medium to hard acceleration. Then it goes away. This happens every so often.

I recently got a Miata so will be daily driving that so the Maxima probably won't be growing in miles alot going forward.
don’t want to jinx you but your alternator may go out soon, mine just went out while I was driving, I’ll notice a sluggish start but I’ll drive then it will just literally stop accelerating the battery light and some other lights pop up. Car will idle roll but no acceleration. It’s happened 3 times within a little less then 2 year span. Replaced with o Reilly’s re man alternator. One lasted 8 months the other lasted 10 months. The third one was put on about a week ago from today and I went ahead and put a new o Reilly’s one on there (still under warranty just had to pay the difference). Hopefully this one doesn’t go out, I’ve seen some people say on here they had this same issue I’m having and they replaced it with an OEM one and the issue was resolved. Not sure what it is but hopefully it’s just a parts issue and not an electrical issue. Hope this can help you out

My 2016 maxima SL is at 285K and going for 300k. Highest mileage I ever got on a car, and maybe the best car i ever owned.

thank you! I’m pretty sure I’ll get there. No major problems whatsoever. The transmission was replaced at 500 miles when it was brand new as part of the recall. Other than a couple of alternators, batteries, dozens of brake pads, and the normal routine maintenance.

Wow, 285k is pretty amazing! I work from home, so my 2016 SV only has 51k miles after eight years of ownership.

I'm currently at 193k on my 19 SV. Besides routine maintenance, only repair I've had is a front wheel bearing and a caliper needed to be replaced. I plan on taking it to 250k before moving on to either a 23 or 24 Altima 2.0 SR. That car is basically a Maxima's twin.

Altima is a crude replacement for a loaded Max.

I know that Maximas have lost their spunk and reputation in the car world since the 1990s and early 2000s, and the CVT in the first half decade of its existence was really hit or miss.

That said, despite Nissans woes I feel like the 8th gen Maxima, which I became an owner of last year, is a diamond in the rough for an otherwise struggling company. The car is not a Porsche or Ferrari by any means, but I’ve found both the exterior and interior is still a head turner especially for a company that’s been blasted for lack of innovation.

I actually did get my trans fluid changed at 40k, despite the dealership rep reassuring me that unlike other Nissan trans, the 8th Gen Max cvt would do just fine following the manual of 60k (and this is coming from a guy whose very job it is to sell MORE service).

im currently sitting at 236k miles on my 17 sv.

2016 SR owner. 180,000 miles. Zero problems aside from rusted through rear control arm, which was covered by Nissan extended warranty. Dealer replaced both control arms. Then I had them replace the front struts, to tighten things up (a rattle had developed).

107,000 miles now. I didn't know about changing CVT fluid (I'm a lady and remember the days when transmissions hung on for dear life) every 30K miles so I started having problems around 60K. The tranny was replaced at 93K. I just replaced control arms at 106K which was a nice penny. I also had the loss of acceleration, stall, and intermittent battery blink on the dash. Thought it was the battery, replaced it. Thought it was the alternator, replaced it 3x's. It kept going out. Ended up being the ipdm (computer near the fuse box under the hood). Motor mount replaced. I'm told I have a crack in the power steering pump... it's on the list of things to do. Leather on driver's seat severely cracked, headliner at rear window falling, and seal around left panel of panoramic roof melting- all of which seem to be common problems. Now I have a p1078 code and rough idle that I am trying to resolve. Long sigh.

haha so I did end up having to get my alternator replaced later on in the year when it got hot out again. Replaced it OEM at the dealer and no issues since!
