For XM subscribers (car vs. app)

Has anyone done an audio quality comparison of the SiriusXM quality of the car antenna (2019+) vs. using the app?
After having massive drop-outs recently (this summer), I've used my phone (via CarPlay), and find that the quality is a ton better via the app.
Bonus - the Bose Centerpoint and Surround stuff works with CarPlay, but does NOT work with satellite (SiriusXM) as a source.

You can also choose from three settings (I use max but dropped down when I had spotty data coverage on the highway - DIFFERENT from the internal XM antenna which has spotty coverage in rural and tree cover... or clouds... or sun... or wind)

In summary, there is ZERO reason to use the antenna. It's crap, garbage, sh-t. Unless you have some old data plan that penalizes you for streaming audio.

Funny coincidence, but in reverse. Just this week, as I was playing SiriuxXM music while Wazing with Apple CarPlay, I noticed I had no Centerpoint speaker, and it appeared the sound sounded kinda tinny coming from just the front side speakers. I turned off the Apple and tuned SiriusXM with my Max '17 head unit and got back the Centerpoint and all other speakers. I've always had very pleasing sound over the car's system, so I'll probably default to the car's SiriusXM tuner as I did before I got my Apple phone. Weird how things work.

SiriusXM sounds substantially better in my 17 using it via my iPhone over Bluetooth than the Satellites. Not even close. I don’t use car play very often but when I do I don’t think it sounds as good as Bluetooth either. And I believe I have all the options in the Bose sound settings with BT.

This is an interesting point - Nissan CHANGED the availability-by-source - Bose surround settings - from the 2016-2018 >>> 2019+.

So you are correct - on the 2017, you have access to this through the satellite source. On the 2019/2020, you would not.
As an aside, on the 2019/2020, there are two odd things - 1) the compressed satellite audio is super loud (and bass is overly heavy), and 2) there is some frequency pushed that gives me a headache.

Doesn't happen with CarPlay (over USB, obviously).

I gave up on connecting any of my family's phones to my cars via Bluetooth, as it connects arbitrarily when cars arrive home (and I'm in the house, on the phone). We prefer CarPlay, although the scratchy phone audio drives me nuts.
(I don't have wireless CarPlay yet, but I think it might use 5Ghz WiFi... - see: BMW).
