Fuel System Flush Opinions

So I’ve got a 2017 SL. Right around 50k miles. We’ve kept up all the main fence on it etc. the dealer is saying that we need a fuel system flush for $300.

I was familiar with the other services ive had done and they were needed; but is a flush necessary now and at that cost? Are there any alternatives or at least not so costly? Or is this the cost of owning a Maxima? (I did search but couldn’t find a related thread)

I would never have that done unless the engine was running crappy and a starved fuel system was the problem. The service dept is upselling a service. My 7th gen which I've had for 9 years has never been treated to a fuel flush, as i use only top tier gas (Chevron) which has a top notch fuel system cleaner in it.

The Chevron additive for gas has been the main staple for all my cars. It is called Techron in a long slender neck bottle and you can find it at most Costco's.
If this car is running that bad, I say replace the fuel injectors.

The car is running perfectly fine. We’ve always ran Top-Tier premium through it. Never anything below premium. That’s why I’m kind of shocked they recommended a flush. Unless it’s just a cash grab which it seems like it is.

I voteTechron too. Also Marvel Mystery Oil as gas additive (No joke, this stuff with the funny name really works), and I believe it works just as well as the Techron. Matter of fact I think it's time for the additive. Thanks for the reminder.

Give me $250, I'll kick you in the nuts, and you'll never fall for stupid dealer scams again. Seems like a better value service to me.

Cash grab porking administered by that dealer. Time for a visit to another dealer.

Lmao! I haven’t given them any money for anything; and I haven’t let them do anything that I didn’t think was necessary. This is the first thing that they’ve brought up where I’m not too sure on. They want $50 to change the engine air filter. Picked up the filter and changed it myself. Was planning to do the cabin filter today but it’s raining.

Sounds like a con job by a dealer.
As @robtroxel says, you can use an additive, or if they're (fuel injectors) really bad, you might need some work done.

Nah. Car runs fine. No skipping or hesitating. Just wanted opinions on if this was 100% necessary or just a cash grab. I dont think it was needed, but this is my first Maxima so didn’t know what the general take on it was. If this was a “by the book” kind of car.

The Lexus dealer quoted my wife $75 to change the engine air filter on her GS 350 when she went in for recall work. I almost fell out of my chair when she told me that.

I'd still use the Techron now and then. I do it evey 5000 miles.
In regard to the cabin filter, Nissan has me over a barrel trying to owner service that filter. I just can't contort enough to get the job done. Absolutely the worst filter location ever.
