Fob issue

Forgot that I had my fob in my backpack instead of pants pocket. Opened the trunk to put my pack in and then closed the trunk. Antennas inside the vehicle did not pick up the fob. Was then able to close trunk and essentially locked myself out of the car as the trunk and doors would not open. Believe it was because the fob was in a front pack pocket and the pack, which was very full, was on top of that pocket. Anyways put me in a very difficult position.

On a different note, I left my Key fob in my gym shorts which I put in the washing machine, I found it in the bottom of the tank after the spinning cycle and I was also locked out . After that the fob was not recognized by the car and my spare key was in a different location. I thought it was damaged but I opened it , took the battery out and used a hair drier for a while , then replaced with a new battery and it started working again

Maybe a moderator will change the title of this thread to Operator Error, Locked I-Key In Trunk.

Go to Wally-World or wherever and have a plain jane key cut using the key in the fob and hide it somewhere on the vehicle. At least you would be able to get into the car if you ever did this again.

So how did you resolve your situation?

Had my wife come and get me with the spare fob. Opened trunk with the spare and turned the pack right side up so the key was on top of the pack and the antennas corresponded with the key and would not let the trunk close with my pack still in the trunk. I believe it was the shear volume of stuff in the pack which blocked the signal from the fob to the antennas. I have more than once forgotten to take the fob out of my golf bag and the trunk has never closed.
